About us
The community of Bamenda, located in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, has been profoundly affected by the ongoing civil crisis that began in 2016. This conflict has disrupted daily life, education, and economic activities, creating significant challenges for residents, particularly the youth. Despite these hardships, United People Bamenda Visionaries, a group of young, motivated individuals, is determined to foster positive change and rebuild the community through targeted initiatives.
Our focus areas are aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Given the three-year disruption of education, our primary focus is addressing the educational gap by organizing boot camps and digital literacy campaigns. These programs aim to equip young people with essential skills and knowledge, thereby enhancing their prospects for the future.
Additionally, we are committed to empowering young girls and boosting their confidence and self-belief, which directly impacts their mental health and overall well-being. To support this, we plan to organize sports and outdoor activities that promote self-care and mental health awareness. Lastly, recognizing the importance of environmental sustainability, we will initiate community clean-up projects and educate residents on plastic waste management and proper waste disposal practices. Through these efforts, we aim to create a healthier, more educated, and empowered community.
